No doubt about it, Autumn is a fantastic season to get married. That crunch of crisp leaves under your feet; the kaleidoscope of oranges, yellows and browns in the gardens, and the dusky smell of the first fires of the year, mmmhmmm – it’s just scrummy!

All of that sensation is naturally available when you're outdoors, but because it’s a few degrees colder you're likely to want to take the party indoors. So we’ve scoured the web to find inspiration to recreate all of that Autumnal magic inside. It’s basically an Autumn wedding décor template.

Essentials for an autumn wedding look

There’s a few key elements that will create an undeniably Autumnal setting for your wedding, so here’s what you should be thinking of:

1. Autumn colour palette

For your colour palette think rusty oranges, deep greens, chocolatey browns and mellow yellows, all the natural colours you’d see on an Autumn stroll. Or for a more muted Autumn colour scheme use plums with beige and paler browns.

2. Leaves

Leaves are the first thing we think about when we think of Autumn, but not just any leaves will do. Again, colour is the most important factor here, so use the palette above. Pale green will only scream Spring time.

3. Fruit and vegetables

Autumn is traditionally the time of the harvest, so Autumnal fruit and vegetables like apples, blackberries, butternut squash and pumpkins can all be used in table décor, card tables and anywhere else to represent the theme.

It’s also worth thinking of a seasonal menu that includes these kinds of ingredients to bring Autumn to life through all of your senses.

4. Natural materials

Think unfinished wood complete with bark, stacks of hay bales and rustic twine – bring the outdoors indoors.

5. Feathers

Feathers are a great way to represent the warmth and cosiness that we all crave when the weather changes. As ever, stick to the colour palette to fit the theme perfectly.

6. Lights

Autumn themes really come to life when the sun goes down and the rooms are illuminated by the shimmer of tealights, fairylights and luminaries. It’s what creates that magical sense of excitement for the evening to come and creates the prettiest lasting memories. Use sparingly.
